About AHA

Afrocentric Homeschoolers Association is free and open to Afrocentric or Black-oriented homeschoolers everywhere. You don't have to be of the African Diaspora or African (Black), and not all of your children (this applies only if you are the primary parent/guardian of more than one child) have to be homeschooling, but your homeschooling must include Black-positive or Afrocentric learning.

You're an AFRIKAN!!!

Don't care where you come from
As long as you're a black man (or woman)
You're an African
(CHORUS)
No mind your nationality
You have got the identity of an African

'Cause if you come from Clarendon
And if you come from Portland
And if you come from Westmoreland
You're an African

CHORUS
No mind your nationality
You've got the identity of an African

'Cause if you come Trinidad
And if you come from Nassau
And if you come from Cuba
You're an African

CHORUS
No mind your compl… Continue

Crystal Formation Science Project

Natural geodes are hollow rock formations that contain deposits of crystals. Natural Geodes take years to form but I found this great project online that the children can try out to have an idea of how they look. You can also purchase Geide kits in the stores but this project can be done with all the children. You will need:

alum (found with spices in the grocery store)
hot water
food coloring (optional)
plaster of paris (found in hobby shops) or an eggshell -we used egg shells

You can crack o… Continue

In this western society we are influenced every single day to divide and seperate from our roots.
I'm sure as a homeschooler you have many individuals concerned about whether your homeschool teaches sufficient academic for your chil/children. However, if they are black individuals, they should also have concern as to whether you are thriving as a black family. It is harder to manitain black culture then academics in this society!
As you know, school systems do not support black culture, they pro… Continue

Virtual Academies .... The Deception Continues

Peace Family
Recently a few of my neighbors have been discussing the pros and cons of enrolling their children into virtual academies and I wanted to get the opinion of my homeschooling family about this topic. Below you will find an article that I copied and pasted from the net as a reference for memebers that are not familiar with state virtual academies. Please feel free to share your pro, con or other opinion about this topic.
